Ex Salgaocar striker Duffy mourns #GoaExit, hopes Bardez enters I-League
DARRYL DUFFY IS SADDENED at the prospect of an I-League season without a club from Goa, and he took to social media to express his concerns.
The Scottish striker who is currently playing at Mohun Bagan came to India to play at Salgaocar in 2013, and he played there till this summer and also made a loan appearance for FC Goa in ISL 2015.
Duffy, who has been vocal about how much he loves spending time in Goa, wants to play football over there in an away match at least one more time, and since the I-League 2016-17 season may miss all three existing clubs - Salgaocar, Sporting Clube de Goa and Dempo SC - he is pinning his hopes on the presence of FC Bardez.
FC Bardez have reportedly run into financial troubles. They were one of the 3 clubs who bid for a direct entry into the top division league, but had their bids rejected today by AIFF who have called for a new round of bidding.
Seeing that I-League has never had a season without Goa, one of the powerhouse states of Indian football, represented in the top division, the fans would hope Duffy's wish of playing in Goa one more time comes true.
