AIFF apparently still in the dark about mass pull-out by Goan clubs
THE WHOLE COUNTRY knows that Sporting Clube de Goa and Salgaocar have pulled out of the I-League, and Dempo SC are about to follow their lead. Except, perhaps, the heads at AIFF.
Last evening, after SC Goa and Salgaocar released their joint statement outlining their decision to quit the I-League, Bengali daily Ei Samay called I-League CEO Sunando Dhar to get his reaction. He replied,
"No one has told us anything... all 3 of these clubs are playing in the U-16 Youth League... we are drawing up the I-League fixtures with Dempo included."
While AIFF made an effort to talk to the Goan clubs after they first announced their intention to step out of the top division league, it seems that the communication between the federation and its clubs is still falls well below the levels of expected efficiency.
