French winger Malouda joins ISL side Delhi Dynamos
INDIAN SUPER LEAGUE (ISL) franchise Delhi Dynamos FC on Sunday announced the signing of former Chelsea and French winger Florent Malouda for the second season starting from October 3.
Malouda, who scored nine goals in 80 matches for the French football team, announced his decision during the pre-match show of the English Premier League (EPL) encounter between West Bromwich Albion and Chelsea in England.
"I am extremely excited for my new innings and to join forces with Roberto Carlos. India has great football talent and a league like ISL will bring the certain amount of interest and will help develop Indian football," Malouda said in a statement.
"I look forward to give my best to the league and make the Delhi fans proud."
The 35-year-old played for Ligue 2 side FC Metz in 2014-15 season.
Dynamos marquee player-manager Carlos said: "Malouda is a classic player and brings with him years of world class experience. I am sure both the Indian and international players will learn a lot from him.
"His presence will not only strengthen the team but will also create high excitement levels among the ISL fans."
Malouda had stints with French sides Chateauroux and Guingamp before joining Lyon where he played from 2003-2007 and won four consecutive Ligue 1 titles.
Then he moved to London and scored 45 goals in 228 matches between 2007-13 for Chelsea, who also won the 2011-12 European Champions League title. They also won the 2009-10 EPL title.
For the 2013-14 season, he moved to Turkish club Trabzonspor before joining Metz.
He played in the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups.
