McGregor vs. Diaz Rematch Confirmed, Aldo to Face Edgar For Interim Title

A rematch of epic proportions

All the rumors surrounding UFC 200 were put to bed by UFC as they confirmed two huge matches for the milestone pay-per-view.

The rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz will headline UFC 200 when a matchup between Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar for the interim Featherweight championship will also be on the card.

McGregor, who is the reigning featherweight champion, had earlier moved to the Welterweight division to challenge Rafael Dos Anjos. However, an injury forced Dos Anjos to withdraw from the fight which led to the replacement of Nate Diaz.

Diaz defeated McGregor in the second round via submission at UFC 196 and this win from Nate set up one of the most anticipated rematches in UFC history.

A new interim champion will be crowned

Elsewhere, Frankie Edgar had been calling for a title match with Conor for quite some time now but as Conor is apparently staying in the Welterweight division for the time being, UFC decided to have an interim championship. The Aldo vs. Edgar fight is surely going to be a cracker considering the history that they have. Edgar is currently ranked 3rd in the Featherweight division when Aldo is 2nd, both behind Conor.

Apart from these two matches, UFC also confirmed the Travis Browne vs. Cain Velasquez, Derek Brunson vs. Gegard Mousasi, and Joe Lauzon vs. Diego Sanchez. However, there is still not a word about the debut of CM Punk even though he confirmed that he is going to fight in 2016.

The current UFC card includes the following matches:

UFC 200 will take place on July 9 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
