When Holly Holm shocked the world at UFC 193 in Melbourne, Australia to topple Ronda Rousey as the Queen of the UFC's bantamweight throne, it was almost too surreal a sight to witness. Prior to that shocker, Ronda had had a stranglehold on the division like no other and it seemed like the title will stay around her waist until she decides to go looking for something else to do. Many a contender, including then undefeated athletes such as Cat Zingano and Sara McMann, were touted to be the ones who would beat Ronda and bring in an air of unpredictability to the growingly stale division, lacking any real buzz outside of the champ Ronda.
Fast forward just 5 months later, Holm loses her title to Miesha Tate, a pioneering veteran in the female MMA division and an arch rival of Rousey, and it's fair to say that the division is wide open. Miesha is the champion, but as can be seen from her record in the game, is far from being a dominant one as she has been beaten handily before. With the question around who will be her next challenge for the title, we take a look at the top 5 contenders in the division, as per the latest UFC rankings.
