Badminton: Sindhu bows out, Prannoy and Rajawat to face off in semis
PV SINDHU bowed out from the quarter finals of the Australian Open, while HS Prannoy and Priyanshu Rajawat carried on their camapaign.
Sindhu lost to B.W.Zhang of USA 12-21, 17-21 in straight games. The fith seed of the tournament, Sindhu performed better than her early exits in recent competitions, but still didn't fully live up to expectations.
However, in men's singles, two Indian shuttlers marched into the semis. Priyanshu Rajawat beat fellow Indian Kidambi 21-12, 21-8 in straight games. Prannoy meanewhile beat A.Ginting from Indonesia 16-21, 21-17 and 21-14 in a marvelous rally under pressure.
Prannoy and Rajawat are going to face each other in the semi-finals on Saturday; ensuring that India will have at least one shuttler in the grand finale down under.
