CFL 2023 HIGHLIGHTS: Defending champs Mohammedan Sporting win 3rd straight game
MOHAMMEDAN SPORTING CONTINUED to assert their dominance in the Calcutta Football League, beating the young lads of Pathachakra 4-0 today.
The defending CFL champions made it 3 wins out of 3, and they are yet to concede a goal. They are second on the Group A table, ahead of Mohun Bagan by goal difference and trailing Diamond Harbour who have played an extra match.
Pathachakra never really managed to trouble the Mohammedan defence as the Black Panthers got their first goal 26 minutes in through David lalhlansanga. In the second half, Bikash Singh, Beneston Barreto and Sujit Singh added to the tally.
The I-League club is slowly setting up a mega clash with Mohun Bagan - who have also won all their matches so far - for Group A supremacy. The two teams' match - known as a 'Mini Derby' in Kolkata football - will be the first clash of giants in the CFL this season; as East Bengal are in a separate group and cannot play against MB and MSC unless they all reach the Super Six round.
