Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat exempt from Asian Games trials, says WFI
BAJRANG PUNIA AND Vinesh Phogat will be exempt from trials for the upcoming Asian Games.
Te ad-hoc committee overseeing the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) have announced that trials for the remaining spots in the Indian wrestling contingent will be held on July 22 & 23.
Punia & Phogat were part of a prolonged sit-in protest demanding the resignation and investigation of former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh over allegations of sexual harrassment.
It became the centre of a massive political debate, culminating in the protesting wrestlers being detained by police.
Since then, the World Wrestling Championship medalists have seen their toils come to fruition, with Singh being charged with sexual harassment, molestation and stalking by Delhi police.
