Aizawl FC rout Bethlehem in Independence Day Football Tournament 2022
AIZWAL FC GOT OFF to a winning start in their Independence Day Football Tournament 2022 campaign earlier today.
Taking on FC Bethlehem in the opening game of Group A, who are based in the Bethlehem Vengthlang area of Aizawl, the former I-League champions began their season with finesse, scoring twice within the first half an hour. The goals were scored by Jakob and Dawngtea.
But Bethlehem struck back soon after with Moses reducing the People's Club's lead just minutes after they had acquired the two goal cushion at the famed Assam Rifles Ground in Lammual.
Although playing as the obvious underdogs, Bethlehem demonstrated an insatiable zeal to stay in the game. Late in the second half, when Jeremy scored the third goal for Aizawl FC, Hmingtea got one back for Bethlehem within a minute.
In the end, though, Aizawl FC scored their 4th goal through KC Valpuia with 4 minutes of regulation time left on the clock, sealing the victory.
Even more than the win, the Aizawl FC staff would be happy with four different players getting on the scoresheet on their very first game.
Aizawl FC wil be back in action on 4th of August, taking on Chawnpui FC in their second Group A fixture.
