Hashim Amla
Hashim Amla
Despite averaging almost close to 45 in the IPL, Hashim Amla found no takers. Amla, who was arguably the best batsman of the tournament in 2017 was blatantly ignored by all the franchises. The South African scored 2 hundreds and 2 fifties with close to 600 runs in 10 outings. If this doesn't satisfy teams...we wonder what would?
While some might argue that Amla's lack of hitting skills was the reason behind his omission, it would be interesting to note that, despite not being overly aggressive, the great man still carried a strike-rate of over 145 in 2017.
2017: 10 matches, 420 runs, avg 60, sr 145
2016: 6 matches, 157 runs, avg 26, sr 131
Backdoor entry: KXIP already have Gayle and Finch. Therefore, it is unlikely that Amla will go back to Punjab. That said, teams like Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings might well show interest in roping in the elegant batsman. Remember, RR always fancy low profile players and that could see them trying out Amla. On the other hand, CSK might have Faf du Plessis, but let's not rule out seeing Amla in Yellow.
