Pro Kabaddi: Puneri Paltan stun U Mumba 33-21
AHEAD OF THE the Maharastra derby at Hyderabad, odds were stacked against Puneri Paltans as they beaten the U Mumba just once in their previous eight outings. However, a rejigged and a bolstered unit surprised one and all as they beat the Mumbai outfit 33-21.
While Anup Kumar’s side started off patiently, the Paltans displayed great intensity right from the first minute. Within seven minutes, the score read 6-1 in Pune’s favor and U Mumba were down to two men. In the 10 h minute, the Paltans inflicted their first all out of the match to gain a formidable 11-4 lead.
U Mumba’s defence, as well as attack, struggled badly as they finished the first half at 17-10. Pune came on in the second half even stronger as skipper Deepak Hooda scored the first super raid of the season in the 25th minute to make it 25-10.
The match ended with the U Mumba lagging behind by 12 points, therefore, losing out on the one point.
