IPL should be a 10 team league
As the debate continues whether to bring back 10 teams into the IPL or not, going by what we saw in the concluded 10th edition of the IPL, we feel it only makes sense to introduce two more teams going ahead. Firstly, teams go hammer and tongs at the auction in order to strengthen their bench strength. If the governing council can restrict the maximum number of players to 20 (including national and international), there won't be dearth of quality professionals. It's not to be forgotten that several marquee names hardly or never get a chance to play throughout the season given the formidable bench strength of a particular team. For eg: Darren Sammy didn't play even a single game for KXIP this season. Chris Jordan too only featured in only one game for SRH. Shakib Al Hasan, Faf du Plessis, Usman Khawaja all warmed the bench. If 10 teams get introduced, this problem can be eradicated and it will only make for more interesting viewing. Sure, many games will have to be played at 4 in the afternoon, but it is much better than witnessing quality cricketers warming the bench.
