Singto says his team won't make it easy for Aizawl FC to lift the trophy

THE COUNTRY AWAITS TO SEE IF AIZAWL can lift the maiden trophy. Shillong Lajong stand in their way in this historic triumph. Aizawl FC a team from Mizarom and Shillong Lajong FC from the state of Meghalaya, collectively and popularly known as the North Eastern teams and their meeting is dubbed the NorthEast derby of this I-League.

Shillong Lajong are with 25 points and in fifth place, two behind Bengaluru FC and 5 points ahead of Churchill Brothers. So the best Lajong can finish is on the fourth place provided they beat Aizawl and Bengaluru FC lose their last game against Churchill Brothers. For Lajong, fourth would their best position to finish in the club's I-League.

Lajong coach Singto, in an interview with the AIFF, spoke how his team would look at this fixture considering what is at stake for the other team from NorthEast,

"We are looking forward to give Aizawl FC a tough fight. They have not won the title as yet but we will not let Aizawl FC walk in and take away the title. They haven’t won the title as yet and we won’t let them win it easily. It will be a very tightly contested clash between both the Teams."

He went on to say that for his team, it is the NorthEast derby even though it the title claiming match for Aizawl FC and they will try their level best to play to potential,

"It’s the North East Derby – our match against Aizawl FC and we are gearing up in that fashion. We know what Aizawl FC have a lot at stake and we plan to make it even more difficult for them"

The Lajong coach praised Aizawl's effort in this season saying,

"Aizawl FC have been extremely consistent this season and have done exceedingly well. That is why there are on the top of the Hero I-League at the moment. They (Aizawl FC) have displayed good attacking Football but their ability to play as a Team has been the striking feature."

There will be a simultaneous kick-off for both game i.e. Shillong vs Aizawl and Mohun Bagan vs Chennai City FC game on Sunday at 7 pm. And Singto concluded saying the end of the I-League will a very exciting for all sets of fans,

"It will be a treat for the neutrals and for every Football fan in India. The fans will have to keep one eye for on Mohun Bagan’s match and one eye on the North East Derby. It is as exciting as it gets – the perfect climax for the 10th Hero I-League."
